What makes the Comfort Clamp different from all other urinary incontinence clamps? Well obviously, just the way it looks, yes some say it looks like some form of medieval torture device. However, the product configuration is not meant to intimidate, it’s meant to function. When it comes to medical devices the very first requirement is that they must function as intended. The Comfort Clamp was designed to apply uniform loading to the penis and to be comfortable unlike most other urinary incontinence clamps it does not close with one side hinged. The hinged approach results in nonuniform loading. The only time these devices have the top part, and the bottom part parallel is when they are close all the way which for the few men out there that need that much clamping may be ok, for the rest of them it means that there is uneven pressure being applied to the penis because the clamp top and bottom are at an angle to each other. Having this angle can also lead to the penis moving out of position and caught in the latching teeth of the device. Ouch!!

Another unique aspect of the Huma-Clamp is an integrated “Hold Open” feature, which was added to make installation and removal easy. The button shape on the top of the unit make it easy to grab and open the device. Once the user has adjusted the pressure pad to the required location the user can simply pull the unit apart placing it into the hold open position and remove the Huma-Clamp from your penis, there is no need to change the setting every time the Huma-Clamp is used.

The lower support member of the Huma-Clamp is ergonomically designed to provide a smooth radiused surface. The “V” shape is to help keep the penis centered in the device. The Pressure Pad is 1-3/8 of an inch in diameter, what this does is spread the load uniformly across the surface of the penis. The increased surface area of the Pressure Pad reduces the contact pressure on the penis which drastically improves comfort. Another major difference is that the Huma-Clamp is infinitely adjustable over the functional distance of the Pressure Pad travel. This allows the user to apply the amount of pressure they need and no more. If the user applies just enough pressure to stop any urinary leakage, the user can then apply pressure to the bladder to urinate through the Huma-Clamp without removing or adjusting the device. This ability is made possible by the elastic bands on each side of the Huma-Clamp.
As the user applies pressure (pushes) on their blader the Huma-Clamp will expand allowing urine to pass through the penis, when the user stops pushing the Huma-Clamp will return to the close position to prevent any leakage. The entire Huma-Clamp system has been designed to not allow the device to create more pressure than normal human blood pressure. This means that the blood flow in the penis is not restricted, this allows the user to wear the Huma-Clamp as long as they want without creating an unsafe condition.
